Social introvert, author, counselor, coach, trusted consultant, friend, fellow traveler

I believe that every person on the planet has inherent value and a set of natural talents and strengths that the teams of which they are a part or lead desperately need.  The problem in the West for many of us who are more introverted is connected to the cultural bias all around us.  I am passionate about helping introverted and ambiverted leaders feel good about who they are and leading from their natural yin strengths.  This is more than work for me; it is my life mission.

I’m a social introvert, not necessarily shy, but connect very much with the true nature of introversion as an orientation toward a deep inner life, abstract thoughts, collectivist orientation, and less of a need for excess outer stimulation due to the amount of activity going on in my head normally.  I came to self-awareness of my introversion and to appreciate my naturally introverted leadership style somewhat later in life.  Now it is my privilege to help others on that same journey I am still traveling.

I love working with teams and deeply value and appreciate diversity on those teams.  The world to me benefits when the different kinds of people in groups, learn to leverage the unique and differing gifts we each bring to the tasks at hand and to the world around us to make it a better place by working in a complimentary and respectful way with each other.

In terms of my background, I am a licensed professional counselor, executive coach and team health specialist.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (Cal Poly, SLO), a Master’s Degree in counseling (Northwest Nazarene University) and am working on my doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology (Grand Canyon University).  My dissertation is on the subject of the impact of the extrovert ideal on introverted leaders in the U. S.

I work with Price Associates, a leadership performance firm with associates around the U. S. and in China.  We are connected to TTI Success Insights, an industry leading assessment company with a seamlessly integrated set of workplace relevant measurement tools.  I’m certified in all five sciences covered in the TTI battery of assessments (behavioral style, workplace motivators, emotional intelligence, acumen capacity, and workplace competencies).  We use TTI assessments in all of our individual and team-related services.  We also provide a leadership development program in organizations aimed at filling the coming leadership with the generational shift underway.  For more information about The Complete Leader, click here.

I’ve written several books and continue to find writing to be one of my most powerful means of furthering my message in society.  The pen is mightier than the sword.  You can check out my writing on the revolutionary thoughts blog on this site or purchase my books here.  I also like to speak about topics I care deeply about.  For a listing of those subjects, click here.

On a personal note, I’m originally from southern California, moved to Idaho 22 years ago and live in the Boise area.  My wife and I have three grown daughters and are the proud grandparents of one grandson.  In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, tennis, music and movies.
